WINES OF THE YEAR
Ruffino Riserva Ducale Chianti Classico
Tuscany, Italy
One of our great finds of 2025. Discovering Ruffino had no
Irish representation, we jumped at the chance to import this
iconic estate. This flagship Chianti shows classic black-cherry
fruit, a hint of olive, and graceful, silky tannins. It9s polished,
elegant and steeped in history. A benchmark bottle that
over-delivers at the price.
Chateau Argadens Bordeaux Superieur
Bordeaux, France
Owned by the Sichel family, this is classic, reliably
excellent Bordeaux. Juicy black-fruit flavours roll
through a textured, mouth-filling palate. Structure and
density are balanced by finely woven tannins. The
finish is smooth and velvety, with notes of chocolate,
cassis and cocoa. Outstanding quality at this price
point.
These are the 12 wines we discovered in 2025
that inspired us most. Our team tasted over
600 wines throughout the year and we always
rate them based on quality, value and the
8Would I want another glass9 scale, which rates
from 1 – 10. It was hard of course to narrow it to
just 12 wines, but we are delighted to present
what we see as the 12 best wines in
Independent retail in Ireland in 2025. There are
6 reds and 6 whites and they are available as
a mixed dozen with 15% off, with one bottle
of each wine, while stocks last. For the first
time you can also order a 6 bottle case of all
reds, or all whites too, see page 21 for pricing of
those.
The Overall Red and White Wine of The Year
will be announced from the shortlist on
Tuesday 18th November. Sign up to our

Peter Lehman 8The Barossan9 Shiraz
South Australia
Big, generous Barossa Shiraz with plush fruit and
swagger. Expect waves of blackberry and plum
wrapped in spice, leather and a touch of tobacco. It9s
bold yet well-judged, with a rich, crowd-pleasing
palate. A true blockbuster from the Peter Lehmann
estate. Perfect for hearty dishes and cosy evenings.?
Rocca Antica Negroamaro di Salento
Puglia, Italy
We first tasted this in June when winemaker Paolo Di
Camillo visited Dublin, and it quickly became a crowd
favourite. Deep ruby in colour, it shows stewed prune,
cherry and ripe plum notes. The palate is dry with supple
tannins and flavours of black cherry and
